69-Year-Old Woman Dies After Stolen Vehicle Crash in Howard County

A 69-year-old woman died Friday afternoon following a four-vehicle collision in Jessup caused by a group of juveniles driving a stolen car, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Police say the crash occurred around 3:06 p.m. when a stolen 2017 Hyundai Sonata, traveling east on Guilford Avenue, crossed the double yellow lines in an attempt to pass a 2021 Tesla Model Y that was preparing to turn left onto Twelve Sons Court. The Sonata sideswiped both the Tesla and a 2010 Honda Fit before colliding head-on with a 2021 Honda Civic.

The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as Bonnie Fuller Griffith of Columbia, was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Following the crash, four juveniles exited the stolen Sonata and fled the scene on foot. One of the juveniles sustained injuries during the collision and was taken to a hospital, where he was last reported in serious but stable condition as of Saturday.

No other injuries were reported. Police confirmed that three of the juveniles remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing. As of Saturday, no charges had been filed.
