Impaired Driving May be Cause of Fatal Crash on Route 295 in Anne Arundel County

Tragedy struck early Thursday morning when Maryland Department State Police troopers fled to a horrific scene located at the intersection of Maryland Route 295 and Arundel Mills Boulevard in Anne Arundel County as a woman lost her life and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash around 2:45 am. 

According to law enforcement officials, a Lincoln MKC was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided with a Hyundai Tucson, which was being driven by Marien Haider. The accident proved fatal for 62 year old Ms. Haider, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. 

The identity of two other passengers in the Hyundai that were transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a 29-year-old man and a 33-year-old man, have been revealed, but the details of their condition are yet to be disclosed.

Brittany Sherlock, a 33-year-old Baltimore resident and driver of the Lincoln MKC was also taken to the Shock Trauma Center via ambulance. The stretch of highway closed down for about three hours.

While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities believe impaired driving to be a contributing factor to the tragic accident. This serves as a reminder of the importance of being vigilant and responsible while behind the wheel to protect everyone on the road at all times. 

As news spreads, upcoming charges pending following the accident are to be determined.
