Motorcyclist transported to trauma center after crash in Charlotte Hall
Incident Information
A serious motorcycle crash in St. Mary’s County resulted in a rider being airlifted to a regional trauma center after a collision in the Charlotte Hall area.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene during the afternoon hours after reports of a crash involving a motorcycle near the intersection of Three Notch Road (MD-5) and Mount Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall. First responders from local fire and rescue agencies arrived to find the motorcyclist suffering from significant injuries.
According to emergency communications and initial reports from authorities, the collision involved a motorcycle and another vehicle. Due to the severity of the rider’s injuries, medical personnel requested a helicopter transport to expedite treatment at a higher-level trauma facility.
The injured motorcyclist was stabilized at the scene before being transferred to a designated landing zone where a Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopter was waiting. The rider was then flown to a trauma center for further evaluation and treatment. Officials did not immediately release the victim’s identity or provide an update on their condition.
Traffic in the area was impacted while emergency responders worked to assist the victim, investigate the crash, and clear the roadway. Motorists traveling through Charlotte Hall experienced delays as portions of the area surrounding the crash scene remained active with emergency personnel.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed what factors may have contributed to the collision. It remains unclear whether speed, roadway conditions, visibility issues, or other circumstances played a role. Authorities continue to review evidence collected from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
Motorcycle crashes frequently result in serious injuries due to the limited protection available to riders. Emergency officials routinely emphasize the importance of driver awareness, proper motorcycle safety equipment, and maintaining safe following distances to reduce the likelihood of severe collisions.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information regarding the crash may be asked to assist investigators as they continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision.
