Pedestrian Pinned Under Vehicle in Dundalk Crash; Police Investigating

A Friday evening crash in Dundalk is under investigation after a pedestrian was struck and later died from his injuries, according to Baltimore County police.

Police said the incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. on February 20, 2026, at the intersection of Merritt Boulevard and Wise Avenue in Dundalk. When officers arrived, they located a 78-year-old man, Mark Hoerner, who had been pinned beneath a vehicle at the scene.

Hoerner was transported to a nearby hospital, where authorities said he later died due to the injuries he sustained in the collision.

Investigators reported that a 2014 Toyota Prius was traveling northbound on Merritt Boulevard when the crash happened. Police stated that the driver of the Prius and two passengers were not injured.

The Baltimore County Police Department’s Crash Team is handling the investigation. Officials have not released additional details about what led up to the impact, and the circumstances remain under review as investigators work to reconstruct the moments before the crash.
