Car Accident: 2 Adults and 1 Child Critically Injured on I-95

Wednesday afternoon, a devastating multivehicle crash unfolded on Interstate 95 close to Beltsville in Prince George’s County, Maryland, leaving a child in critical condition and two adults with serious injuries. Maryland State Police reported the incident occurring in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Powder Mill Road at approximately 1 p.m.

According to authorities and Prince George’s County Fire and EMS, the critically injured child was airlifted to a shock trauma center in Baltimore for immediate medical attention, while the two adults were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, their conditions are stable.

Details regarding the crash and the individuals involved have not been disclosed by the police at this time.

Although the northbound lanes have since reopened after a closure of approximately two hours near Exit 29 for Maryland Route 212, congestion remains a significant issue, particularly during the evening commute. WTOP Traffic reporter Dave Dildine warns of substantial delays from College Park and Silver Spring to Laurel and advises drivers to plan accordingly.
