Incident Information

A Baltimore County crash that first left one person dead and two others seriously hurt has now turned even more tragic, as police say an infant passenger also died from injuries sustained in the wreck. Investigators are continuing to examine the collision near Old Court Road and Harden Lane in Pikesville, where a westbound SUV crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle.

According to Baltimore County Police, officers responded to the crash at about 7:30 a.m. on February 12, 2026. Authorities said a 2016 Nissan Rogue was traveling westbound on Old Court Road when it crossed the center lane and collided with a 2018 Audi Q5 heading in the opposite direction. The Nissan’s driver, 31-year-old Sydney Jones, was taken to a local hospital, where she later died that same day. The Audi driver was also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police later said 1-year-old Nova Hill, who had been riding as a passenger in the Nissan, also died as a result of injuries from the crash. That update shifted the case from a single-fatality collision to one involving two deaths, underscoring the long tail these serious roadway incidents can have for families and investigators alike.

While the crash happened in February, authorities have made clear the investigation remains active. Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crash Team are working to determine exactly what caused the Nissan to cross into opposing traffic. So far, police have not publicly announced whether speed, impairment, distraction, or a medical issue played any role.

The location, at or near the intersection of Old Court Road and Harden Lane, is a busy corridor that serves local commuters and neighborhood traffic. Incidents like this one often require reconstruction work, witness interviews, and vehicle analysis before investigators reach final conclusions. For the families affected, however, the consequences are immediate and permanent.
