Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision in Accokeek Claims One Life, Injures Three

Tragedy struck the community of Accokeek around 10pm on the night of August 24, 2023, when a three-vehicle collision turned fatal at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Farmington Road. One driver lost their life, and three others suffered serious injuries. The deceased driver has now been identified as 54-year-old Lamont Hoyer of Waldorf.

This terrible accident occurred at the intersection of Farmington Road and Indian Head Highway, as preliminary findings reveal which resulted from a driver in a pickup truck trying to make a left turn onto Farmington Road from northbound Indian Head Highway. This maneuver collided with the vehicles of the late Hoyer and a third driver, who were both traveling southbound on Indian Head Highway towards the intersection. Unfortunately, Hoyer was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the pickup truck and two passengers in Hoyer’s vehicle were immediately taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Thankfully, the third driver involved in the accident escaped without injuries.
