Car Accident: Two Critically Injured on Mechanicsville Road

Incident Information

On the morning of Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 6:13 a.m., emergency responders were called to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Mechanicsville Road, near the address 27790 in Mechanicsville. The incident involved a significant crash with one individual trapped inside the vehicle.

The collision was initially reported by Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad (VRS) ambulance 299C, which arrived on the scene and confirmed the presence of two occupants in the vehicle, one of whom was trapped and required immediate assistance.

Given the severity of the situation, a helicopter was requested to provide rapid medical transport for a 57-year-old female victim. The Maryland State Police Helicopter, designated Trooper 2, responded promptly to the call and landed in a nearby area to facilitate the rescue.

A coordinated effort involving 12 personnel from both the Mechanicsville and Hughesville Volunteer Fire Departments ensued. These dedicated first responders worked diligently and efficiently, managing to extricate the trapped patient in under 25 minutes, showcasing their training and readiness in handling such critical emergencies.

Following the extrication, one patient was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance for further evaluation and treatment. Meanwhile, the 57-year-old female, due to the severity of her injuries, was airlifted by Trooper 2 to a nearby trauma center to receive specialized medical care.
