Mechanicsville Motorcycle Crash Hospitalizes One

A 26-year-old motorcyclist was flown to a hospital in critical condition following a serious crash at a Maryland intersection Saturday afternoon, authorities reported.

The collision occurred around 4:48 p.m. on Dec. 13 at the intersection of Three Notch Road and Cedar Grove Street in Mechanicsville. Investigators said a 2019 Chevrolet Impala failed to yield while making a left turn and was struck by a 2002 Yamaha YZF600R motorcycle.

The Impala was driven by 35-year-old Mechanicsville resident Orrin Stacy, while the motorcycle was operated by Darius Jackson-Jordan, 26, of Drayden, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson-Jordan was airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 to an area trauma center with life-threatening injuries and remained in critical condition as of Monday morning, deputies said.

Investigators noted that speed does not appear to have played a role in the crash. Because of the severity of the collision, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
