Early Sunday morning, a devastating crash involving a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado and a 2022 Peterbilt tractor-trailer took the life of 32-year-old Dane Thomas Benavidez of Laurel. According to Howard County Police Department, the Chevrolet was traveling west on Route 32 near Washington Boulevard when it struck the stopped tractor-trailer at around 3:13 a.m. Emergency services declared him dead at the scene, while the truck driver was uninjured and remained at the scene. The police have since opened an investigation into what caused this tragic accident, leaving Route 32 closed for about four hours in its wake.
