Car Accident: Two Killed on US Route 13 in Maryland

Incident Information

Early Sunday morning, the Maryland State Police responded to a tragic two-vehicle crash.

The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Route 13, just south of St. Luke’s Road, involving a head-on collision.

Investigators revealed that a 2013 Dodge Durango was heading north in the southbound lanes of Route 13, colliding with a 2016 Subaru Impreza. The driver of the Subaru, 21-year-old Dean Alexander Dennison, along with passenger 20-year-old Sierra Rain Merchant, both hailing from New York, were pronounced dead at the scene. A one-year-old child, Grayson A. Dennison, also in the Subaru, was rushed to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to injuries later.

The driver of the Dodge, 59-year-old Jay Richard Bynum, was transported by helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for medical treatment.

The Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office has been briefed, and charges are currently pending against the Dodge driver. The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
