On December 2, 2022, at approximately 5:13 p.m., the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to a motor vehicle collision in the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 1994 Ford Ranger driven by Walter Tyrone Waul, 55 of Callaway, had struck Eugene Elis Wood who was crossing Great Mills Road on a motorized wheelchair. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Wood suffered incapacitating injuries, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced deceased.
