Police Seek Information After Fatal Upper Marlboro Single-Vehicle Crash

Prince George’s County investigators are seeking additional information about a single-vehicle crash in Upper Marlboro that resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man.

Police identified the driver as Craig Stevenson of Upper Marlboro. Officers initially responded at approximately 2:05 p.m. on August 7, 2026, to the area of Church Road and Oak Grove Road following a report of a single-vehicle collision. The case was publicized again on August 13 as investigators sought information that could assist in determining what happened.

According to the preliminary investigation, Stevenson was traveling on Oak Grove Road when his vehicle left the roadway for reasons that had not yet been established.

Stevenson survived the initial impact long enough to be transported for medical care but was subsequently pronounced dead at a hospital. Authorities did not identify the hospital in the initial public account.

The make and model of Stevenson’s vehicle were also not specified in the report reviewed for this update. Because the investigation remained active, police had not publicly attributed the crash to speed, a medical emergency, mechanical failure, roadway conditions, distraction or any other particular cause.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.

Investigators specifically appealed for additional evidence surrounding the crash, including information that could clarify the vehicle’s movement before it left the roadway. The headline accompanying the police information indicated that authorities were seeking dash-camera video that may have captured activity in the area.

Church Road and Oak Grove Road meet in the Upper Marlboro area. A historical marker database independently places St. Barnabas’ Church at or near the intersection, providing confirmation of the reported roadway location.

The investigation remained open at the time of publication, and no indication was given that another vehicle was directly involved in the collision.
