Wrong-Way Crash in Gaithersburg Leaves Two Hospitalized

A wrong-way crash in Gaithersburg resulted in two people being hospitalized following a head-on collision late on March 29, 2026. The crash occurred around midnight at the intersection of Muddy Branch Road and Killarney Lane.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews responded to the scene and found significant damage to both vehicles. One individual was trapped inside a vehicle and required extrication by emergency personnel. That individual was transported to a nearby hospital as a Priority 2 trauma patient, indicating serious injuries.

A second driver initially declined transport at the scene but was later taken to the hospital from the Gaithersburg Police Station as a Priority 3 patient. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or details regarding the vehicles.

Investigators believe one of the drivers was traveling in the wrong direction prior to the crash, leading to the head-on collision. The incident remains under investigation.
