State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash In Upper Marlboro

Tragedy struck in Upper Marlboro, Maryland early this morning as Maryland State Police troopers rushed to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash. According to reports, authorities received the distressing news shortly before 6 a.m. and responded immediately. The crash occurred on Largo Road where both cars were traveling in opposite directions when a Nissan suddenly veered into oncoming traffic, smashing into an unsuspecting Chevy Impala. A 52-year-old male driving the Impala, and his passenger, a 21-year-old male, were both hurt and quickly taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, Maryland. 

This tragedy also resulted in the loss of 30 year old Angelica Cepero, a beloved member of the Bowie community. Despite the swift response of emergency medical services, Cepero was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The impact of the accident also left a 1-year-old passenger injured, who was quickly transported to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. One can only imagine the heartbreak and pain this news has caused for those close to Cepero and the young child involved. 

Law enforcement officials from the Prince George’s County Police Department and personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration were on hand to manage five hour road closures following the accident. 

It’s a horrifying moment that no driver ever wants to experience. The crash is still under investigation led by The Maryland State Police Crash Team. We still don’t know why the Nissan made that fateful mistake, but one thing is for sure: this event serves as a reminder of the importance of staying alert and attentive while on the road.
