Incident Information

In the quiet hours of early Wednesday morning, tragedy struck in Prince George’s County around 2:30 am. Authorities were alerted to a deadly hit-and-run crash, leaving two individuals dead. The scene of the accident was near the intersection of Landover Road and 63rd Place in Cheverly. The incident quickly became a fiery one, with flames engulfing the area.

The accident left two people dead and the driver of a stolen Kia on the run who had fled the scene quickly after. Police reported that the unidentified driver in the Kia that was heading northbound on Landover Road crashed into the other vehicle, a Toyota Camry containing the two victims. The Camry was attempting to turn left onto southbound Landover Road. This incident caused both cars to catch fire, and unfortunately, the driver and passenger of the Toyota did not survive the collision.

FOX 5’s Melanie Alnwick reported on the events and spoke to heartbroken family members of the victims. One of the deceased was identified as a sister who was likely returning from work that morning at the time of the incident. As cleanup crews arrived at the scene to remove the debris from the roadway, family members watched on in disbelief. As the police continue to investigate, the thoughts and condolences of the community go out to those affected by this terrible accident and we remain hopeful that justice will be served.
