School Bus Driver Dies Following Gaithersburg Crash

A school bus driver died Tuesday afternoon after authorities say an apparent medical emergency preceded a crash in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County first responders received reports of the collision at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, near Central Avenue and Route 355. The school bus traveled off the roadway, entered an area with trees and eventually struck a utility pole.

Investigators believe the driver may have suffered a medical emergency shortly before losing control of the bus. Emergency personnel pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
