Two Tractor Trailers Collide, Sending One Person to the Hospital in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A serious crash involving two tractor-trailers caused major traffic delays Wednesday morning on the Capital Beltway in Montgomery County.
The crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. on July 2, just past Exit 31A near Georgia Avenue. According to Pete Piringer with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, two tractor-trailers collided, with one overturning and spilling fuel across the highway.
Debris and fuel spread across I-495, leading to significant traffic disruptions. One person was transported to the hospital, but the severity of their injuries remains unclear.
By 8 a.m., all lanes of the I-495 inner loop were closed, and traffic was being diverted to MD-97. Drivers were advised to use MD 200 as an alternate route.
Officials confirmed that all lanes had reopened by just after 10:30 a.m.
