Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Accident Collides with Passenger Vehicle Resulting in Death
Incident Information
On July 3, at 9:41 p.m., the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on northbound MD Route 4, near the intersection with MD Route 765.Upon arrival, it was determined that a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle were involved in the collision, which resulted in the driver of the motorcycle being ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paul Preston Gibson, II, 42 of Dunkirk, was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel after a 2011 Harley Davidson Custom motorcycle he was operating collided with a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander. The Outlander was operated by Enola Gabrielle Bates, 23 of Roanoke, VA. The preliminary investigation revealed that both the motorcycle and Outlander were traveling northbound on MD Route 4 when they collided in what appears to be a side-swipe. As a result of the collision, the motorcycle slid off the roadway and Gibson was ejected from the bike. Bates sustained serious injuries and was transported to a regional trauma center for treatment.
The team collected evidence from the scene and spoke to witnesses in order to piece together what happened. The investigation is ongoing, but at this time they believe that two vehicles were involved in the collision. If you have any information, please do not hesitate to contact S/DFC J.
