Incident Information

An 11-year-old boy remained in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning while attempting to cross Harford Road in Baltimore.

Baltimore police said the collision happened at approximately 8:40 a.m. September 15 in the 2300 block of Harford Road.

Emergency personnel rushed the child to an area hospital. Police initially described his injuries as critical, while a subsequent local report described him as being in critical but stable condition.

The child’s name was not released.

Police said the driver involved in the collision stopped and remained at the scene. Authorities had not publicly disclosed the driver’s identity or the make and model of the vehicle.

Baltimore Police Department Accident Investigation Unit detectives began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Residents interviewed after the collision raised concerns about traffic conditions along Harford Road, including vehicle speeds and construction in the area. Those comments reflected neighborhood concerns and had not been established by investigators as causes of Tuesday’s collision.

Police did not announce any citations or criminal charges in the initial report.

The collision came only days after several students near Dundalk High School were struck and hospitalized in a separate Baltimore County incident, adding to concerns about pedestrian safety involving children in the Baltimore region.

Investigators had not publicly determined whether speed, visibility, distraction or another factor contributed to the Harford Road crash.
