On October 15, 2022 at approximately 2:07 am, deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s office Patrol Bureau and Crash Reconstruction team responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on Southern Maryland Boulevard (MD Route 4) and Ward Road in Dunkirk. Upon arrival they discovered a blue Toyota Camry that had run off the road and struck a light pole.

The driver of the vehicle, Kerri Ann Balser of Huntingtown, MD was pronounced dead on the scene, while the passenger Christina Marie Hall of Huntingtown was taken to University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation has found that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
