Incident Information

A fatal collision on Monday morning in the Finksburg area resulted in the death of a woman from Reisterstown and the closure of Md. 140 for over three hours.

The deceased, identified as Adikie Mosby, 36, was involved in a two-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m. west of Sunset Lane, according to Maryland State Police.

Initial findings indicate that Mosby, driving a 2011 Lexus ES350, was stopped on Old Westminster Pike and attempted to cross both lanes of westbound Md. 140. Meanwhile, a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Madison Absher, 21, of Finksburg, was traveling in the far left lane of westbound Md. 140.

Upon pulling onto Md. 140, the Lexus was struck on the driver’s side door by the Hyundai, resulting in severe damage that trapped Mosby inside and ultimately led to her fatal injuries. Mosby was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Reese Volunteer Fire Company.

Absher sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Carroll Hospital. Neither driver is suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Responding to the scene were Maryland State Police troopers from the Westminster Barrack, deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and members of the Reese Fire Company. A collision reconstructionist was also present for the investigation. The State Highway Administration assisted with road closure and detours, which were in place until approximately 11:10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing, and as of Monday afternoon, no charges had been filed. Witnesses or individuals with relevant information are urged to contact Trooper 1st Class Mark Klinger at 410-386-3001.
