Chevrolet Malibu Hit a Buick Envision in a Car Accident Resulting in Death and Injuries

In Glen Burnie this past weekend, tragedy struck as an 87-year-old Baltimore woman lost her life in a devastating two-car collision, according to law enforcement sources.
The fatal incident occurred at the junction of Ritchie Highway (MD 2) and Mountain Road around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1.
Behind the wheel of a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, Mamie F. Johnson was traveling northbound on Ritchie Highway when she failed to obey the traffic signal, leading to a catastrophic collision with a southbound 2020 Buick Envision. Notably, the Buick had a green left turn arrow and was in the process of turning left onto Mountain Road.
Emergency responders from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department rushed to the scene, transporting Johnson to a nearby hospital. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries upon arrival.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the Buick, a 79-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from Glen Burnie, sustained minor injuries and were also taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
As the community mourns this tragic loss, the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section continues its thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
