Incident Information

BALTIMORE, Md. — A Wednesday morning crash in downtown Baltimore quickly escalated into a homicide investigation after officers arrived around 7 a.m. amid heavy rush hour traffic.

“It started off as an accident, and then they said there was a weapon on the ground,” a dispatcher reported over police radio.

At the intersection of Ensor and East Monument Streets, a gray Chevy had collided with a Johns Hopkins shuttle bus. While the sedan showed significant front-end damage, officers soon discovered a far more serious situation inside the vehicle.

“Now they’re saying it’s two people in trauma arrest, and they’ve supposedly been shot,” dispatchers relayed.

Inside the Chevy, police found two passengers suffering from gunshot wounds — a 28-year-old woman and an unidentified man. Both were taken to local hospitals, where they later died.

Investigators have not released any details on a motive or possible suspects. Early reports, however, indicate multiple firearms were recovered at the scene.

“Three handguns — two under the driver’s seat and one outside. All of them rendered safe,” an officer said over radio.

Police confirmed that no one aboard the Johns Hopkins shuttle bus was injured.
