One Teenager Dies and Another is Sent to Hospital After Cars Crash Into School Bus

BEL AIR, MD — A 16-year-old girl was killed and a 17-year-old boy seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at the intersection of Route 543 and Crescent Knoll Drive.
Preliminary reports indicate a northbound vehicle on Route 543 had stopped to make a left turn onto Crescent Knoll Drive when it was struck from behind. The force of the impact pushed the car into the path of a southbound Harford County Public School bus.
The 17-year-old driver of the struck vehicle was airlifted to a local trauma center with serious injuries. The 16-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released.
The driver of the vehicle that caused the collision, a 39-year-old man, was not injured.
Students were on the school bus at the time. Six were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, while the remaining students were evacuated and transferred to another bus.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash.
