Ambulance Carrying Car Crash Victim Rear-Ended by a Tesla

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – A patient being transported to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Chingville Road encountered a second emergency on Monday, March 31, 2025, when the ambulance carrying them was rear-ended at a busy Leonardtown intersection by a Tesla.

The secondary collision occurred around 2:58 p.m. at the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Hollywood Road. Officials reported that ambulance A68 was struck from behind while transporting the patient, who had been involved in an earlier crash with a utility pole.

No injuries were reported in the second incident. The original patient was quickly transferred to another ambulance and continued to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. All other individuals involved in the crash declined medical attention.

Northbound Point Lookout Road was temporarily closed at the intersection as first responders worked to clear the scene and safely transfer the patient. Traffic was rerouted through the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) campus parking lot.

The Maryland State Police are investigating the incident.
