Serious Route 24 Crash in Edgewood Sends Passenger to Shock Trauma

A serious single-vehicle collision in Harford County prompted an emergency rescue and medical helicopter response Tuesday morning after an adult passenger became trapped inside a badly damaged vehicle.

Authorities closed the highway in both directions between Trimble Road and the entrance gate to Aberdeen Proving Ground while rescue crews treated the victim, cleared the wreckage and investigators worked at the scene. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes during the morning commute.

Route 24, also known as Emmorton Road in this portion of Edgewood, is an important north-south roadway connecting communities in Harford County with Aberdeen Proving Ground, U.S. Route 40 and Interstate 95. The highway intersects Trimble Road shortly after leaving the military installation area.
