Incident Information

A three-vehicle collision on Indian Head Highway in Fort Washington left one driver dead and another person hospitalized Wednesday night, prompting an investigation by Prince George’s County collision investigators.

Police said the crash occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. on September 2, 2026, near the intersection of Indian Head Highway, also known as Maryland Route 210, and Palmer Road.

Responding officers found an SUV and two sedans involved in the collision. Authorities later identified the driver of one of the sedans as 24-year-old Blake Greenwell of Waldorf. Greenwell was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger traveling in Greenwell’s vehicle was transported to a hospital. Police described that person’s injuries as non-life-threatening. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not reported injured.

According to the preliminary investigation, both sedans had been traveling northbound on Indian Head Highway as they approached Palmer Road. The SUV was heading southbound. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicles to collide at the intersection.

The makes and models of the three vehicles were not identified in the initial FOX 5 report or the Prince George’s County Police Department release.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation. Detectives have asked anyone who witnessed the crash to provide information. They are also interested in dash-camera recordings or surveillance footage from nearby homes or businesses that may have captured the vehicles before or during the collision.

The crash occurred along MD-210, a major north-south corridor through southern Prince George’s County connecting communities including Fort Washington and Oxon Hill. The MD-210 and Palmer Road area has also been the subject of transportation and safety planning by state highway officials.

The cause of Wednesday night’s fatal collision remained under investigation when police released their update.
