Tractor Trailer Driver Sent to the Hospital After Being Hit by a Honda Accord Near Woodsboro
Incident Information
A tractor driver was airlifted to a trauma center after a crash in Woodsboro on Sunday, according to the Maryland State Police.
Emergency responders received a call between 5 and 5:30 p.m. after a Honda Accord attempted to pull onto Woodsboro Pike and collided with an International-brand tractor heading down the road, as reported by Sgt. Richard Freysz of the Maryland State Police Frederick barrack.
One of the tractor’s tires struck the hood of the Accord, causing the tractor to tip over and eject the driver, Freysz said.
The tractor continued to rotate and struck a second vehicle, Freysz added.
The crash occurred in the 10400 block of Woodsboro Pike, between Glade Road and South Main Street, near Woodsboro.
A Facebook post by the Frederick County Division of Fire & Rescue Services initially indicated the incident took place on Woodsboro Road and involved a “pedestrian struck by tractor.”
However, state police confirmed on Monday that the driver of the tractor was the one injured and that the crash occurred on Woodsboro Pike.
No further details about the driver’s condition were available as of Monday.
Traffic was blocked for an extended period, according to state police, and the scene was cleared around 7:20 p.m.
