Fatal Hit-and-Run Kills Motorcyclist, Injures Child

A devastating hit-and-run crash in Charles County left a motorcyclist dead and his young passenger injured, prompting an ongoing search for the driver responsible.

The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. on May 4, 2026, at the intersection of Maryland Route 210 and Jenkins Lane. Authorities say 32-year-old Harry Washington III was riding a Suzuki motorcycle with his 9-year-old daughter when the collision occurred.

Investigators believe an orange 2013 Dodge Dart entered the roadway and collided with the motorcycle. Both Washington and his daughter were transported by helicopter to local hospitals. Washington was later pronounced dead, while the child survived with injuries.

Police say the driver and passenger of the Dodge Dart fled the scene on foot. The passenger later returned and sought medical treatment, while the driver remained at large.

Hit-and-run incidents present unique challenges for investigators and victims’ families, as accountability depends on locating the responsible party.
