Occupant Hospitalized After Car and RideOn Bus Crash in Rockville

A collision involving a passenger car and Montgomery County RideOn bus near the Rockville Metro station sent one person to a hospital Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 9 a.m. August 25 at North Stonestreet Avenue and Park Road, a short distance from the Rockville Metro station.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said an occupant of the passenger car became trapped following the impact. Emergency crews worked to free the person from the damaged vehicle before transporting the patient to a hospital.

Authorities described the person’s injuries as non-life-threatening.

No passengers were aboard the RideOn bus when the collision occurred, according to reporting cited by Patch. The report did not indicate that the bus driver suffered significant injuries.

Authorities had not publicly identified the hospitalized person, and neither the make nor model of the passenger vehicle was provided. The specific type of RideOn bus involved also was not reported.

Investigators did not immediately determine what caused the collision. The intersection sits in an area the City of Rockville has previously identified for pedestrian, roadway and multimodal transportation improvements because of its proximity to the Metro station and surrounding neighborhoods.
