Dodge and Honda Sedan Crash Resulting in Death and Injuries
Incident Information
A tragic incident unfolded in Montgomery County, with a man now in custody following a fatal collision. The Independent Investigations Division has launched an inquiry into the death of a woman involved in the Saturday morning crash in Rockville.
Around 2:25 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies spotted a Dodge sedan speeding down Rockville Pike. Their attempt to pull over the Dodge was interrupted when they stumbled upon a two-car collision involving the Dodge.
Emergency responders from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the scene near the junction of Rockville Pike and Twinbrook Parkway. Two vehicles, one of which had overturned, were involved in the collision.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Dodge collided with a Honda as the latter was turning onto Rockville Pike. Both vehicles required extrication to free the occupants trapped inside. Tragically, the driver of the Honda, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another adult woman, who was a passenger in the Honda, was rushed to a trauma hospital in critical condition, as reported by Assistant Chief David Pazos of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
The identities of the women involved, including their names and ages, have not been disclosed.
According to authorities, the driver of the Dodge, an adult man, fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement.
The Maryland Office of Attorney General Anthony G. Brown confirmed that investigators from their Independent Investigations Division (IID) were on-site due to the incident being police-involved.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with the Office of the Attorney General taking the lead.
