Incident Information

Baltimore police are investigating a deadly collision involving a motorcycle and a stolen sedan after two people reportedly abandoned the car and fled the scene.

The crash occurred near North Dukeland Street and West North Avenue in Northwest Baltimore on September 30.

Officers found a motorcycle and another vehicle involved in the collision. The 69-year-old motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Despite medical treatment, the rider was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that the other vehicle was a stolen sedan. The car became disabled following the collision, and police said a male and female exited the vehicle and ran away.

Neither person had been publicly identified in the initial release.

There is a discrepancy in the publicly available reporting regarding the time of the crash. CBS Baltimore reported that the collision occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m., while the Baltimore Police Department’s later release states that Northwest District officers responded at approximately 1:40 p.m. to the 1800 block of North Dukeland Street. Because the official and news reports differ, the exact collision time should be treated as unresolved unless police issue a clarification.

The Baltimore Police Traffic Investigation Unit assumed control of the investigation.

The intersection can be identified with unusual precision.

Police have not released the motorcycle’s make or model or the make and model of the stolen sedan.
