1 Dead and 3 Injured from a Two-Vehicle Crash in Eden on Monday 

Incident Information

A tragic incident occurred in Eden on Monday when a two-vehicle crash resulted in one death and four injured, according to Maryland State Police. The crash happened around 5 p.m. on northbound U.S. Route 13 at Maryland Route 529. A Toyota traveling east on Maryland Route 529 failed to yield to a Jeep traveling north on U.S. 13, causing the Jeep to hit the passenger side of the Toyota. The front passenger in the Toyota, Awatif Ibrahim, tragically passed away at the scene. 

According to police, a 70-year-old man was driving the Toyota, with a 28-year-old woman as the rear passenger. They were both taken to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Medical Center to receive medical attention for their injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Jeep  involved was a 32-year-old man who also had a 35-year-old man as the passenger. Both men were also transported to Tidal Health for treatment of their injuries.

The devastating car accident shut down the northbound lane of U.S. Route 13 for approximately four hours. Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash, and according to their initial assessment, they do not believe speed or impaired driving were contributing factors. While the inquiry continues, we can take a moment to be thankful for the dedicated emergency responders who helped manage the incident and ensure everyone’s safety. Accidents like these are unfortunate and our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim.
