On Monday, June 6, Latasha Maria Curtis Barrett was killed in a car accident in Howard County, Maryland. Barrett was apparently speeding through a light and was struck by a sedan that was heading west on Route 175. The driver of the sedan was taken to the University of Maryland Shock and Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The road was closed for approximately two and a half hours following the crash as police investigated the incident and cleared the scene.

A man’s body was found in a wooded area on Route 99 in Ellicott City. Police believe that the man, who has been identified as 54-year-old Ellicott City resident Michael Kevin Fitzpatrick, was struck by a hit-and-run driver overnight. The department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. While police investigate the hit-and-run, Route 99 is closed. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Howard County Police Department.
