Teen Killed in White Marsh Roadway Departure

A crash in the White Marsh area killed an 18-year-old and left a second teenager hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to Baltimore County police.

Officers from the White Marsh Precinct responded at approximately 5:10 p.m. on July 17, 2026, to Belair Road and Halbert Avenue.

Investigators determined that a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling south on Belair Road when it left the roadway. The car struck a curb before continuing into a tree and coming to rest.

Both occupants were ejected from the Honda during the crash.

Police identified the deceased occupant as 18-year-old Tye’mel Foster. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. A 17-year-old occupant was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as life-threatening.

Authorities did not publicly identify which teenager had been driving. They also did not provide information about seat-belt use, the vehicle’s estimated speed or whether impairment, distraction or a mechanical problem contributed to the crash.

Detectives assigned to the Baltimore County Police Crash Team continued investigating the circumstances. Their work is expected to include an examination of the Accord, measurements at the impact site and a review of evidence that could help establish the vehicle’s speed and movement before it left the road.

The fact that both occupants were ejected will also be examined as investigators evaluate occupant positioning and the vehicle’s restraint systems. Police had not released a final determination regarding seat-belt use.

No other vehicles were reported to have been directly involved.

The crash remained under investigation, and police requested that anyone with information provide it to the department.

The incident left one family mourning a young adult and another awaiting information about a critically injured teenager.
