An Impaired Driver Strikes a 24-Year-Old Woman In a Pedestrian Accident Resulting in Death
Incident Information
A tragic incident took place in Towson on Saturday afternoon as a pedestrian lost her life due to a reckless action. The police found a 57-year-old man, who is believed to have been intoxicated, responsible for the mishap. According to reports, Eliza Grover was struck by a truck at around 4:20 p.m. on Providence Road, and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol are severe. The driver of the truck, Richard Mays learned this lesson the hard way. Mays thankfully stayed at the scene, but was arrested on multiple charges. Not only was he attempting to drive a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock, but he was also fully impaired. Mays is currently facing the consequences of his actions as he remains behind bars at the Baltimore County Detention Center, unable to post bail.
Such incidents are an unfortunate reminder of how drunk driving can lead to tragic consequences. It is important for drivers to understand the grave danger they pose to innocent people when they get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
