Pedestrian Struck by a Tractor-Trailer on Route 50 in Bowie Resulting in Death
A tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Bowie, Maryland when a 42-year-old man was hit by a tractor-trailer on Route 50. According to the Maryland State Police College Park Dispatch, officers were alerted to the accident at around 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Maurice Logan Mitchell lying in the eastbound lanes, having suffered injuries from the collision. Sadly, Mr. Mitchell passed away as a result of his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities. However, further investigations revealed that the incident was more than just an accident. Mr. Mitchell had been considered a suspect in a stabbing case that had occurred earlier that day in Annapolis. It’s a devastating situation, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of all involved.
The stabbing is currently under investigation by the Annapolis Police Department. Meanwhile, the Maryland State Police Crash Team is conducting an investigation into the crash, which resulted in the partial closure of Route 50 for approximately four hours. No further information is presently available.
