Patient Critically Injured in Fallston Collision

Incident Information

A serious motor vehicle collision in Fallston prompted a large emergency response Monday morning and left at least one person critically injured.

Firefighters and Maryland State Police responded at approximately 9:40 a.m. September 14 to the 1500 block of Bel Air Road, between Whitaker Mill Road and Harford Road.

Multiple fire and ambulance units from the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company and the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company were sent to the scene.

Emergency officials reported that at least one patient was in critical condition. Because of the seriousness of the injuries, Maryland State Police Aviation Command was requested to assist with medical transport. A helicopter prepared to land at the nearby Harford Gymnastics Complex on Whitaker Mill Road.

The initial report did not identify the injured person or say whether anyone else was hurt.

Authorities also had not released information about the number, makes or models of the vehicles involved.

Maryland State Police from the Bel Air Barrack were identified as the primary investigating agency.

Drivers were advised to avoid the affected section of Bel Air Road while first responders worked at the scene and investigators began examining what caused the collision.

No fatality was reported in the initial information.

The circumstances immediately before the crash—including the direction of travel of the vehicles and whether speed, distraction, impairment or another factor played a role—had not been publicly established.
