One Dead After Falling from I-395 Bridge After Crash in Baltimore

A tragic incident occurred on an Interstate 395 bridge in Baltimore, where Robert Horne, a good Samaritan, lost his life in a car crash. He had pulled over to help a stranded driver whose car had broken down when he was hit by another car and thrown over the wall and into the water below. Baltimore City fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright stated that paramedics were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle collision that occurred while they were responding to an initial crash. Dash-cam footage obtained by 11 News showed the intense moment when paramedics searched frantically for Horne’s body in the water, more than 100 feet below.

Cartwright recounted the chaotic scene that unfolded around 10pm that Sunday night. The sudden impact of the collision had caused Horne to fall over the Jersey wall and disappear into the water. Despite the best efforts of the fire department’s dive team, the victim was unresponsive and unconscious when they finally located him. The recovery operation took roughly an hour, during which crews searched for any other victims.

The aftermath led to a section of I-395 South and the ramp to I-95 South being shut down for several hours, causing major traffic delays. Maryland Transportation Authority police stated that they are still investigating and no charges have been made.
