Incident Information

The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is currently investigating a tragic hit-and-run incident resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The incident occurred near the intersection of Randolph Road and Kimblewick Drive on the evening of Friday, April 5.

At approximately 10:12 p.m., officers from the 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian. Preliminary investigations suggest that a white 2023 Honda Odyssey traveling westbound on Randolph Road veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined and struck 52-year-old Ronaldo Franzese of Silver Spring, who was walking.

Following the collision with the Honda Odyssey, Franzese fell onto the roadway and was subsequently struck by a white 4-door Acura. The Acura fled the scene without providing any assistance. It is believed to be a model produced between 2009 and 2012, possibly a TL, and is identifiable by missing a fender liner and expected damage to its front end, near the ground. The last known direction of the fleeing Acura was northbound on New Hampshire Avenue, then turning west onto Randolph Road.

Tragically, Ronaldo Franzese was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Police are actively seeking any information regarding the incident and the driver of the Acura involved in this fatal collision.
