Lexington Park Afternoon Crash Leaves One Dead, One Hospitalized

Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

At around 2:29 p.m., officers responded to a reported crash near the Crossroads Apartments, located on the 21000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.

Upon arrival, deputies found a two-vehicle crash involving a 2015 Nissan Armada and a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The driver of the Chevrolet, Kathy Mae Davis, 59, of Lexington Park, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The initial investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling in the second lane of Great Mills Road toward Westbury Boulevard when the Nissan, driven by 20-year-old Zykera Sharnae Shubrooks-Nunley of Lexington Park, rear-ended the Chevrolet. The collision caused the Chevrolet to strike a utility pole, overturn, and eject the driver.

Davis was confirmed dead at the scene, and Shubrooks-Nunley was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Investigators believe speed and driver error may have played a role in the crash.
