Pedestrian Accident Victim Died on the 2900 block of Crain Highway

Incident Information

On May 24, an 83-year-old pedestrian was hit by a truck in a parking lot and died the following day. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Joyce Ann Throne, of Charlotte Hall, was crossing the parking lot of a restaurant when she was struck by a pickup truck. Officers were called to the scene at 10:15 a.m. and preliminary investigation showed that Thorne had exited her vehicle and was crossing the parking lot when she was struck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. This is an ongoing investigation.

Thorne was transported to a local hospital for treatment for injuries to her leg, but she died on May 25. The driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Cpl. Spence of the Traffic Operations Unit at 301-932-3514.
