Pedestrian Struck By A Ford Explorer in Anne Arundel County Resulting In Death
Incident Information
A tragic incident occurred last night in Anne Arundel County, as the Maryland State Police Crash Team launches an investigation into a fatal crash involving a pedestrian. The victim has been identified as Deja Sharvon May, a 26-year-old from Baltimore. May was driving a black Mazda CX-5 that was involved in a three-vehicle crash on the outer loop of I-695. Despite being transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, she was later pronounced deceased. A six-year-old passenger was in the vehicle with May at the time of the accident and was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally, the driver of a Kia Optima was transported to St. Agnes Hospital for their injuries.
The driver of the Mazda CX-5, identified later as May, for reasons unknown, jumped over the concrete jersey wall and ran into oncoming traffic. Tragically, a white 2006 Ford Explorer struck May. Thankfully, the driver of the Explorer, Ivan Dennis Wade, IV, of Waldorf, remained on the scene and didn’t sustain any reported injuries. Responding to the scene were troopers from the Glen Burnie and Annapolis Barracks as well as officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration also lent assistance with detours and road closures. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this shocking incident.
Troopers from the Glen Burnie Barrack are working tirelessly to piece together the events that led up to the accident, with the help of the Maryland State Police Crash Team. As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Whether you were in the area at the time of the crash or have any relevant knowledge about what happened, your help could be instrumental in bringing closure to those affected by this tragedy.
