Two Hospitalized Following T-Bone Collision at Waldorf Intersection

A two-vehicle collision at a busy Waldorf intersection sent two people to the hospital Thursday afternoon and required firefighters to free one driver who was initially trapped inside a vehicle.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at approximately 4:50 p.m. on August 13, 2026, to the intersection of Old Washington Road and Leonardtown Road after receiving reports of a motor vehicle crash with possible entrapment. Initial information provided to responders indicated that one of the vehicles had been struck in a T-bone-style collision.

The crash involved a white GMC and a second vehicle whose make and model were not identified in the initial report. When firefighters arrived, they found one occupant trapped in the driver’s seat.

Rescue crews worked to gain access to the driver and successfully removed the patient shortly after 5 p.m. Emergency medical personnel then evaluated the people involved in the collision.

Two patients ultimately required transportation by ambulance to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. According to the report, one patient complained of head and neck pain. The second patient was also transported for injuries suffered in the collision.

Authorities classified both patients’ injuries as non-life-threatening. No names of the motorists or passengers involved were released in the initial report.

Officials also did not immediately identify the second vehicle or disclose which vehicle was struck from the side. Information concerning traffic signals, right-of-way, speed or other potential contributing factors had not been announced.

Police continued investigating the circumstances of the crash following the emergency response.

Old Washington Road is designated Maryland Route 925 in the Waldorf area, while Leonardtown Road forms part of Maryland Route 5 Business. Their intersection is part of Waldorf’s developed commercial road network.
