35 year old male Pedestrian Struck by a Porsche Macan Resulting in Death

On a fateful Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at around 8:36 pm, Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack troopers received a distressing call regarding a major motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on United States Route 301 (Crain Hwy) near Acton Lane. Due to the grave nature of the incident, the Maryland State Police CRASH Team swiftly assumed the investigation. Initial inquiries led by troopers from the MSP La Plata Barrack, in collaboration with the MSP CRASH Team, unveiled that a 2015 Porsche Macan S was being driven by 58-year-old Mark Anthony Conner Sr. of Waldorf, MD. Conner Sr. was navigating southbound on United States Route 301 within the vicinity of Acton Lane when the collision tragically occurred. 

A 35-year-old male pedestrian, whose identity remains undisclosed, unwittingly stepped onto the southbound lanes of United States Route 301, right into the path of an oncoming Porsche. The driver, Mr. Conner Sr., was unable to avoid a collision, striking the individual who was not utilizing a designated crosswalk or implied crosswalk at the time. Mr. Conner Sr. promptly remained at the scene and contacted emergency services. Despite his efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the location of the accident. Investigating authorities surmise that the pedestrian fatally erred in judgment, potentially due to alcohol impairment. The Maryland State Police has appealed to the public for any witnesses to this devastating crash to come forward, requesting they contact Sergeant J. Zimmerman of the MSP CRASH Team at (301) 392-1231, as the inquiry into the incident is still underway.
