Incident Information

A Silver Spring motorcyclist died after being critically injured in a collision with a pickup truck at a Beltsville intersection, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:35 a.m. on July 25 to Cherry Hill Road and Sellman Road following a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck.

Police identified the motorcycle rider as Monday Williams, 43, of Silver Spring. Emergency medical personnel transported Williams to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries. He died later that evening.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. Police did not identify that driver or disclose the truck’s make and model.

The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit assumed responsibility for determining how the crash occurred. The initial police release did not describe the directions in which the vehicles were traveling or indicate whether either driver was turning, entering the intersection, or changing lanes.

Investigators had not announced whether speed, visibility, failure to yield, distraction, impairment, or another factor contributed to the collision.

The intersection is located near the border of Prince George’s and Montgomery counties and carries traffic between residential neighborhoods, commercial properties, and nearby major roads. Investigators were seeking recordings that might show the vehicles before or during the collision.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash or possessed dashboard-camera or home-surveillance footage from the area to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit. Officials emphasized that footage that appears unimportant could still help investigators establish the sequence of events.

The department assigned the investigation case number 26-0039468. No charges or citations had been announced at the time of the release.

Williams’ death changed the investigation from a serious-injury collision to a fatal crash review. Authorities continued gathering evidence and requested assistance from members of the public.
