Incident Information

Wednesday morning’s motor vehicle accident on Three Notch Road and Mattapany Road in Lexington Park, Maryland was an intense scene for all the responding personnel. Two vehicles were involved in a T-bone style collision, with one of them off the roadway and into multiple trees. There were three casualties assessed by emergency medical services – two from the Department of Defense, and one civilian – and two needed to be taken to hospitals.

In response to this critical situation, a helicopter from the Maryland State Police was called to pick up an adult male officer at St. Mary’s College, who then was transported to a trauma center, while NAS Patuxent River requested a separate aircraft for their other DOD employee. The operator of the Nissan sedan was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, though it is unknown where the second operator was taken for medical attention. In response to this unfortunate event, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrived and are currently investigating this crash. Here’s hoping that all those affected are in recovery soon.
