Collision in Prince George’s County Leaves a Minor Dead, Five Hospitalized

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday morning on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, leaving one person dead and five others injured.

According to the United States Park Police, officers responded to the scene near Route 197 after reports of a two-vehicle collision. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, officials confirmed that a minor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another minor sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Two additional minors and two adults were also hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

As the investigation continues, all southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Powder Mill Road remain closed. Traffic is being diverted off the highway, and significant delays are expected, with backups stretching for several miles.

Authorities have not yet released the ages of the victims.
