Incident Information

ACCOKEEK, Md. — Prince George’s County police are investigating a deadly collision that claimed the life of 79-year-old Walter Puma of Accokeek on November 26, 2025. The crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Bryan Point Road, where officers found Puma in the roadway suffering trauma injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The driver remained at the scene and was uninjured.

Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle was traveling westbound on Bryan Point Road near Biddle Lane when it struck Puma, who was walking in the roadway. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is reviewing the circumstances of the crash to determine the cause.

Bryan Point Road was temporarily closed in both directions during the investigation, disrupting local traffic. The two-lane roadway, located in southern Prince George’s County, serves residential neighborhoods near the Potomac River. Limited evening lighting in the area may have contributed to visibility challenges, particularly during the fall and winter months.
